ANOTHER THING I WILL LIKE TO SAY IS THAT THE JUDGES CHOSEN TO JUDGE THESE COMPETITIONS TENDS TO BASE THESE COMPETITIONS NOT ON THE PERFORMANCES OF THE INDIVIDUALS BUT ON THE PERSONALITY OF THE INDIVIDUALS THEMSELVES, AND IF THIS IS THE CASE WHY HAVE THEM ENTER IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Everyone seems to be forgetting the Mr. and Ms. Talented Teen Youth Show which was of a very high standard the best that I have ever witnessed in the history of Talented Teen.  One thing though I must say and the entire Nevisian public and the public at large knows that the competition was not fairly judged.  The crown belonged to the children of the IVOR WALTERS PRIMARY SCHOOL it was a heavy licking performance done by those two children.  Nuff respect to both of these children.  I am sure you made your sponsors OD Brisbane proud, your parents, teachers, fellow classmates, chaperone(s) and the entire public proud.  BIG UP!

I think you need to get judges from overseas to judge these c...

I think the Mr. Kool show is a fantastic show and whoever came up with that idea to have that show did a good thing for the community of nevis. whether the young men are after the money or not it gives them a chance to experiment and experience something difference. Re-entering of the same people eventually bores the audience. W need to see some young faces and bodies, give the young people a chance!

I totally agree with Tanty. The Mr Cool show is really loosing its standards. Why should Wayne Hanley re-enter? Wayne I think that you had your chances and you should let the other young Nevisian men enter. If I am not mistaken its Jose Gumbs from Santo Domingo? These things cant work. To me most of the guys are just after the money. I know what I am talking about.

The Miss Culture Queen show   (reply) Posted by: mermaid baby
Date Posted: July 25th, 2007, 10:31am
The queen show is one of the highest points of culturama. A couple of years ago the standard was going down but I think that the committee is trying to regain that level of high standards that was set. A queen is someone who can represent the island be it home or in the out world. It should be manditory to do a back ground check. We dont want any street girls represting us. Make sure they have some education too.

Over the past years I realise that there is alot of politics in calypso. Everybody knows that Meeko and  Dis and Dat and the others are veteran in the field. I think that they should step aside and let someone else get a chance. One of the younger guys if only calypso show was like the queen show then things would be alot different but hey I guest this is what makes it interesting when the winner can come back to defend his crown. The year when Hollywood sang Nevis I love you they really cheated him. These kinda biasness cant work. I support Hollywood and adowa and them younger guys.

The Miss Culture Queen show   (reply) Posted by: Tanty

Well, it is difficult to get girls to volunteer for the queen show because of the negative vibes the young ladies get before they go on stage etc. The chairperson of the Committee over the years hand pick the contestant that she wants to win and this year is no exception! When the young ladies taking part in the competition realize the preferrential treatment given to one contestant over the others there are rifts caused and the girls talk about it and future participants hear that every year a queen is crowned before the competition and are discouraged to go in the following year so that is why we have to go over to St Kitts to asks girls from there to go in for the show. The only thing is that the St Kitts contestants never win even if th...

We keep on saying that the calypso standard here in Nevis is dropping but every year the calypsonians come out and try their best and we are not given the respect we deserve in terms of the support from the culturama committee. We as calypsonians are the ones that sets the tone as to wether we will have a great culturama or not and we are treated so shabily. Calypso starts and ends the festival and i think that the committee needs to put something in place so as to treat the calypsonians better.Every year the queen contestants, mr.kool contestants gets over $5000.00 and $3000.00 to prepare for there shows but the calypsonians who sets the tone of the festival cannot get as much as $1000.00 to assist them with their preparation for the show....

I am not in agreement with the other posters who think that the likes of Dis & Dat, Meeko & Binghi should be stopped from competing because they have won 3 crowns or more and give people like Hollywood, Adowah and myself an easy ride to the finals and possibly an easy ride to win the crown but rather let them all compete and we prove our selves in beating them to the finals and win while they are there because myself as a calypsonian and i go by the calypso name Wingie would love to make it to the finals with all of them competing and i whip all of them. that would be a great accomplishment for me and my greatest joy as a calypsonian

I think thats its a way of portraying what the Caribbean as a unit has to offer to the rest of the world and I am proud. It's a pity that whenever our ladies represent us in the bigger pageants, that the judges seem to brush us aside when we are the one s with the beauty, brains, charisma, congeniality I should say everything! So I am hoping that the judges this make the right decision and may the best lady win!! I am from Dominica but I support my girl Techar Cuffy from Montserrat! Oh do not take this the wrong way I am proud to be Dominican!HEHEHE!!!!!!!!!!

People need to stop bringing down their own and praising up other people...of course Cukturama isn't as good as it used to be because we don't make it good for ourselves.
We can't expect to compare Culturama to a Carnival! Culturama is about culture, carnival is about mas!
Oh spare me with this Culturama is boring crap!  Do u remember that song 'Culture is me, Culture is you'?!  Its up ti us to enjoy Culturama.
Stop Critisizing and try and help. Stop saying there aren't enough troupes and form a troupe. Stop saying the Judges aren't fair and volunteer to be a judge or join a committee. Stop chattering about who's taking part in the Queen Show is a Kittitian and ENCOURAGE the Nevisian girls.

Because it shows us ladies that there are still young men in Nevis who have pride and confidence in themselves and are proud of who they are.

I don't know about the other ladies but I get feel good when I look on the stage and see our local men doing the same moves we see on tv and the same cultural activities we try to preserve in our island.

Thats why I love the show....oh did I say watching a half naked man on the stage with ripping abs puts the icing on the cake for most ladies! Yes it does. Plus this show has the most outstanding Icebreaker Segments...Thats whats there to love about Mr. Kool!
